About the role
- Establish and own the end-to-end localization platform process and ensure internationalization and localization considerations are built into every product roadmap.
- Serve as the operational owner of our translation vendor relationship, including string handoffs, quality feedback, SLAs, and delivery schedules.
- Partner with Engineering to drive i18n implementation, string management best practices, and automated localization workflows.
- Establish localization QA workflows (automated and manual), gather feedback from internal/global stakeholders, and triage issues with engineering.
- Ensure localized assets meet local regulatory, linguistic, and cultural expectations through partnership with Legal and regional SMEs.
- Develop internal tools, workflows, and automations that improve localization speed, quality, and cross-team collaboration.
Requirements
- 4–7+ years of experience in localization operations, technical program management, product operations, or related roles in software.
- Strong understanding of i18n concepts, localization engineering, file formats, TMS/CAT tools, and translation workflows.
- Ability to work closely with engineers on technical requirements, automation, pipelines, and integration issues.
- Experience implementing or managing localization tooling and internal product operations systems is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to coordinate multiple teams and keep complex flows on track.
- Clear communicator who can partner effectively across Product, Engineering, Design, Legal, and external vendors.
- Proven ability to manage external localization vendors, including evaluating quality, negotiating contracts, building partnerships, and providing constructive feedback to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Strong attention to detail, with appreciation for cultural, linguistic, and regulatory nuance—especially in high-accuracy domains.
- Experience in legal, compliance, or other regulated industries is valuable.
- Experience in high-growth/startup environments, comfortable with ambiguity, resourceful, biased toward action, and a commitment to continuous learning and scaling a function from the ground up.
