About the role
- Provide counsel on complex legal issues affecting the organization
- Identify legal issues relevant to the business and proactively educate leaders on these issues
- Advise senior leadership on risk mitigation and compliance strategies
- Support board and committee activities, including preparation of materials and compliance with governance requirements
- Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
- Advise on employee relations, workplace policies, and employment disputes
- Manage litigation matters, including coordination with outside counsel
- Mentor legal staff and assist in departmental planning
- Manage relationships with outside counsel
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active, unencumbered state license
- 10+ years of legal experience, including in-house counsel or law firm experience
- Strong background in corporate, regulatory, and employment law
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
- Leadership experience
- Familiarity with risk management and compliance frameworks
- Strong business acumen and ability to partner with operational leaders.
