About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents
- Report resident incidents, care concerns, and issues to appropriate individuals
- Maintain working knowledge of policies and procedures
- Perform housekeeping duties in resident and common areas
- Respond to resident calls for assistance and emergency alerts
- Assist in planning and conducting resident activity programs
- Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information
- Escort residents to dining and activities
- Check on residents and ensure attendance at meals and activities
- Monitor ill residents and report status or concerns
- Communicate resident status, community information, appointments, admissions, and transfers verbally and in writing
- Assist new residents with move-in transitions and provide emotional support
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Successfully completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel
- Contributing member of the nursing team and ability to follow supervisor instructions
- Polite and considerate toward residents, visitors, and co-workers
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs
- Ability to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
- Wear designated uniform and name badge during working hours
- CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
- Represent the community positively and professionally
- Attend and complete required in-services and staff meetings
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
