About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of staff and students
  • Open/close the site as needed
  • Maintain a clean and orderly designated space
  • Direct supervision of Youth Leader Sub - ASES Team
  • Ensure program compliance through observations, on site coaching, auditing of student files, sign-in sheets, etc.
  • Apply progressive disciplinary procedures including Employee Corrective Counseling, while providing strength based support
  • Monitor and ensure employees’ timecards are accurate and approved in a timely manner
  • Supporting additional tasks as directed
  • Evaluate, develop and implement improvement plans for assigned sites
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of the Youth Leader Sub - ASES
  • Provide regular supervision to reinforce strengths and work on challenges with subordinates
  • Develop and implement action plans, trainings, program activities, etc.
  • Manage student-staff ratio
  • Manage attendance records and program compliance requirements at sites
  • Ensure all administrative paperwork is accurate and completed on time
  • Work effectively across all program service areas for Agency wide effective communication and operations
  • Under HR’s direction will participate in preparing and reviewing in any legal related matters
  • Responsible for supervising, coaching, training, directing and evaluating staff
  • Responsible for holding regular Supervision Meetings to ensure consistency amongst staff as well as to review policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with staff, parents, and children
  • Create and distribute program information internally and externally, including; on-boarding, forms, sign-in sheets, newsletters, calendars of activities, etc.
  • Adhere to fiscal and Harmonium policies and procedures
  • Advance the Agency’s mission, vision, initiatives and core values within respective role
  • Act as a role model for staff
  • Provide overall control and direction of staff on how to interact with internal & external customers
  • Judgments and decisions are guided by Harmonium and program policies, contracts and guidelines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must have 48 completed college units OR pass the District’s Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (a basic math and literacy exam)
  • Must have either a minimum of 6 completed units in child development, elementary and/or middle school education, recreation or related field OR a minimum of 6 months documented work experience in an ASES program
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in an after school or group childcare setting with elementary aged children and/or middle school aged children
  • A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
