Manager, Communications

Human Resources

• Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing expert counsel on employee relations issues, workplace conflict, and resolution strategies.
• Lead workplace investigations involving employee complaints, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation and policy violations.
• Assess investigation findings, identify organizational risk, and provide recommendations for resolution.
• Maintain complete and accurate case documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
• Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation sessions between employees and managers, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.
• Partner with leadership to design and implement performance management strategies that align with organizational goals and drive employee engagement.
• Coach managers on performance management, corrective actions, and employee relations best practices to promote consistency and reduce organizational risk.
• Advise managers on setting clear performance expectations, delivering constructive feedback, and managing underperformance through formal processes such as performance improvement plans (PIPs).
• Analyze performance data and provide actionable insights to senior leadership on trends, improvement areas, and opportunities for development.
• Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to promote a positive workplace culture and improve retention.
• Regularly conduct stay interviews and pulse surveys to gauge employee satisfaction, identify areas of concern, and proactively address issues before they escalate.
• Collaborate with HR and department heads to design retention strategies tailored to various employee segments, ensuring a supportive and motivating work environment.
• Assist in the development, communication, and enforcement of HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with best practices.
• Support accommodation and leave-related interactive processes in partnership with ER, benefits and leadership.
• Stay up to date on labor laws and employment regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant with all relevant legislation.
• Support management in interpreting and applying HR policies, advising on complex employee relations matters and mitigating risks.
• Analyze the employee relations trends, investigation outcomes, and organizational risk indicators to identify opportunities for proactive intervention.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for HR leadership regarding employee relations activity and trends.
• Utilize case data to identify patterns related to employee relations concerns, performance issues and workplace cultures.

Employee Relations Partner

• Support the execution of strategic priorities, initiatives, and partnerships across WJWI.
• Manage project plans, timelines, deliverables, and implementation workstreams to ensure high-quality execution.
• Coordinate activities across internal teams, external partners, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Track progress against goals and milestones, identify risks and challenges, and support the development of solutions.
• Facilitate meetings, prepare agendas, document action items, and ensure follow-through on key decisions and commitments.
• Conduct research, analysis, and information synthesis to support planning, decision-making, and implementation efforts.
• Develop presentations, briefing materials, reports, communications, and other resources for internal and external audiences.
• Support relationship management efforts with community leaders, partner organizations, government agencies, philanthropic partners, and other stakeholders.
• Assist with planning and execution of meetings, convenings, learning opportunities, and special projects.

• Lead the strategy and approach for HCZ's state and local policy implementation work.
• Develop and refine frameworks, tools, and implementation models that help communities translate policy into measurable impact.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen policy implementation efforts across states, municipalities, and partner communities.
• Monitor emerging policy trends, implementation challenges, and opportunities that inform HCZ's work.
• Serve as an internal resource and thought partner on state and local policy implementation.
• Support governments, school systems, and community partners in operationalizing enacted policies and translating policy goals into implementation plans.
• Develop implementation guidance, toolkits, playbooks, and resources that support effective execution.
• Advise communities on governance structures, public funding opportunities, and cross-sector implementation strategies.
• Support replication of promising policy models and implementation approaches across communities.
• Help partners identify and address implementation barriers that could impede progress and outcomes.
• Develop frameworks, tools, and implementation resources that support effective policy implementation.
• Identify and elevate promising practices and lessons learned from implementation efforts.
• Build and maintain relationships with governors' offices, mayors, state agencies, local governments, school systems, and other public-sector stakeholders.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to government leaders implementing place-based and economic mobility strategies.
