About the role
- Perform all aspects for complete design of complex civil/structural engineering assignments
- Work under general supervision as part of an on-site team in Kingsport, TN
- Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies for solving engineering tasks
- Produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs
- Produce detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction
- Check calculations made by other engineers for accuracy and conformance
- Assist drafting group in resolving layout and detailing problems
- Consult with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure smooth flow of information
- Advise senior engineer concerning design or scope changes
- Review and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for input
- Perform fieldwork necessary to gather data and provide construction support
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred
- 6+ years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering
- Knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.)
- Expertise with civil/structural analysis software
- Knowledge of discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct process and manufacturing projects
- Proficient in CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation or both
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
