About the role

  • Serve as Owner’s Representative for capital project execution
  • Liaise with engineering contractors during FEED/FEL-3 process for ISBL and OSBL equipment; review approval drawings and provide feedback
  • Coordinate and lead meetings with SMEs, site personnel, and engineering contractors
  • Conduct bid walks with contractors for budgetary and firm proposals; respond to RFIs promptly
  • Support full project lifecycle: scope development, risk assessments, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and closure documentation
  • Advocate for strong safety culture; enforce zero-recordable safety targets and participate in audits and contractor safety meetings
  • Prepare bid packages and RFPs for materials, equipment, and services; condition bids for lowest-cost vendor selection
  • Manage construction contractors for piping, mechanical, electrical & instrumentation, and civil/structural disciplines
  • Work with construction coordinators to plan project activities
  • Interface with site and company personnel to maximize resource utilization (engineering, purchasing, operations, vendors, contractors)
  • Perform project control activities such as estimating, cost control, and scheduling updates
  • Travel up to 10% in the first year (to engineering firm offices, out-of-state)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred, other disciplines acceptable)
  • 5–10 years of project engineering experience in chemical or heavy industry, continuous process plants, or design engineering firms
  • Familiarity with piping and mechanical systems (isometrics, valves, specialty items, packaged skids, chillers, cooling towers)
  • Basic understanding of industrial work practices related to Health, Safety, and Environmental impacts
  • Experience in oil, petrochemical, or chemical operating facilities (other heavy industry such as pulp & paper acceptable)
  • Previous experience in operations, process engineering, technology, maintenance, construction, or HSE
  • SAP software knowledge preferred
  • Working knowledge of stage-gate project management processes
  • Understanding of project control functions (estimating, scheduling, cost control)
