About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Handle billing, collections, cash and payment processing
Support the month end close process – accruals analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis
Complete monthly GL account reconciliations including bank rec, AR, AP, clearing accounts
Account for fixed assets, depreciation, and update continuity schedules
Process full cycle payroll entries; upload and track expense reports from the expense management software into the accounting system
Post intercompany transactions and assist with month end intercompany reconciliation
Prepare Sales tax reporting and reconcile related accounts, resolve variances
Continually look for opportunities to improve systems and processes
Assist in ad hoc analysis, reporting, and administrative functions as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years’ experience as a general/supervising accountant or similar role is mandatory
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or business administration is required
Intermediate level MS Excel skills including LOOKUPs and pivot tables is required
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with good time management and prioritization skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing, dynamic work environment; must be self-motivated and willing to take initiative to get things done
Ability to work with all levels of management and effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
Attention to detail, timeliness on delivering commitments, and the ability to multitask and prioritize
Ability to gather data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and propose solutions.
Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Prior experience in a software company or exposure to project/accounting would be considered an asset
Experience with Accounting Software (Great Plains, NetSuite, OpenAir) would be considered an asset
Recently qualified or working towards a CPA designation will be an asset
