About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop clear and comprehensive how-to guides, user manuals, and technical documentation for security products, including IP cameras, NVRs, and VMS software
- Translate complex technical concepts into simple, easy-to-understand instructions for users of all experience levels
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure technical content accuracy
- Edit and proofread documentation for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company standards
- Work with product management, technical support, and sales teams to meet end-user documentation needs
- Respond to feedback and update documentation to address user needs and improve usability
- Stay current on products, best practices, and emerging technologies
- Write and organize troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and best-practices documentation
- Incorporate diagrams, illustrations, and other visuals for installation steps, product layouts, and system configurations
- Gather feedback from users and support teams to improve documentation quality and relevance
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5 years of experience as a Technical Writer
- Proven ability to create clear, concise, user-friendly, and technically accurate documentation
- 3 writing samples required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize documentation needs
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and documentation tools
- Experience with Zendesk, ServiceNow, or other ticketing/knowledge systems
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the security industry involving IP cameras, NVRs, and VMS software (preferred)
- Prolonged sitting and/or standing for long periods
- Ability to lift 25 lbs occasionally
- Ability to perform computer activities for a minimum of 8 hours
- Ability for remote employees to create a lab environment in the workspace
- Ability to perform physical installation of products occasionally
