About the role
- Assist and participate in design engineering while collaborating with team members across disciplines
- Assist and participate in the inspection of in‑service bridges and structures
- Conduct analysis and design, calculations, preparation of specifications, details, and construction plans
- Assist and participate in construction engineering, demonstrating strong communication skills with contractors and project stakeholders
- Conduct observation and documentation of construction activity
- Conduct evaluation of construction for compliance with contract documents
- Interpret plans for design intent and effectively communicate findings
- Take initiative in developing new skills and contributing both independently and as part of a team
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with additional coursework in structural engineering
- 18 credit hours of structural engineering coursework (may include design project credit hours if your role was structural)
- For those with six or less credit hours short of the 18-credit hour requirement, proof of class enrollment to achieve this level is required (reimbursable)
- 0–5 years of experience
- Registration as an Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or the ability to obtain within 6 months
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is desirable.
