About the role

  • Assist and participate in design engineering while collaborating with team members across disciplines
  • Assist and participate in the inspection of in‑service bridges and structures
  • Conduct analysis and design, calculations, preparation of specifications, details, and construction plans
  • Assist and participate in construction engineering, demonstrating strong communication skills with contractors and project stakeholders
  • Conduct observation and documentation of construction activity
  • Conduct evaluation of construction for compliance with contract documents
  • Interpret plans for design intent and effectively communicate findings
  • Take initiative in developing new skills and contributing both independently and as part of a team

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with additional coursework in structural engineering
  • 18 credit hours of structural engineering coursework (may include design project credit hours if your role was structural)
  • For those with six or less credit hours short of the 18-credit hour requirement, proof of class enrollment to achieve this level is required (reimbursable)
  • 0–5 years of experience
  • Registration as an Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is desirable.
