About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Greet and assist patients upon arrival, provide information on wait times, and address front-desk inquiries
- Verify and update patient demographics and insurance details during check-in
- Handle walk-in registrations
- Collect patient payments, including deductibles, copays, and co-insurance
- Coordinate follow-up appointments, including cast and measure, delivery, and prosthetic care plans
- Serve as a liaison for clinic services and provide information on patient experience programs, support groups, and other resources
- Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management team to obtain necessary patient information
- Ensure accurate and complete electronic health records for all patients
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Less than one year of customer service, administrative, or related experience required
- Experience in a receptionist position or with medical front-office procedures preferred
- Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures
- Strong interpersonal, oral, including telephone, and written communication skills
- Ability to key 30 words per minute accurately
- Ability to work with handicapped individuals
- Understanding of Alpha filing system
- Understanding of medical reimbursement and terminology and front-office receptionist duties preferred
- Ability to use a computer, including Windows-based software and email
- Ability to use necessary office equipment, including facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, and copier
- Talent Sorter assessment fit preferred; Hanger will administer the assessment during selection
