About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contact new patients before or after initial consultation or AmpuShield fitting and enter them into Hanger Clinic’s patient management and tracking system
  • Support patients with amputations before and after surgery by providing information, resources, advice, and counsel about prosthetic/orthotic fitting processes and options
  • Coordinate AMPOWER visits
  • Build and maintain referral relationships for Hanger Clinic
  • Assist with obtaining clinical documentation for insurance coverage
  • Maintain patient engagement through follow-up communications and appointments to ensure continuity of care
  • Provide updates on surgeon follow-up visits, including wound descriptions, photos, care-plan details, and modifications
  • Complete hospital, skilled nursing facility, and rehabilitation facility visits as needed by the care team
  • Identify and follow up on referrals to ensure continuity of care and meet patient/family needs
  • Act as a contact for patients, families, physicians, outside agencies, staff, and the general public regarding clinic services
  • Serve as liaison between patients and clinic areas/ancillary services for pre-operative and post-operative planning, preparation, and care coordination through definitive device delivery
  • Use CCC clinical communication and tracking tools to communicate with patients and health professionals
  • Assist patients with upcoming visits and fittings, potentially becoming an ABC Certified Orthotic Fitter
  • Coordinate day-to-day communication and management with patients, care-team members, referral partners, Hanger personnel, and office staff
  • Interact with community healthcare providers to build relationships and foster opportunities to serve more patients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a patient care environment
  • BA/BS in a health-related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to be credentialed in major hospital systems
  • Experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle confidential data with discretion
  • Valid, non-revoked passenger vehicle driver’s license, or eligibility to obtain one, with a driving record meeting Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Empathetic, kind, and engaging personality
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Understanding of insurance
  • Time management and ability to maintain a schedule
  • Preferred ATC, EMT, MA, Surgical Tech, LVN, PTA, Physician Extender, OTA, Social Work, or similar certification or equivalent experience
  • Experience with progressive responsibilities in healthcare facility administrative support, such as insurance processing coordinator, patient care coordinator, MA, or related roles
  • Experience interfacing with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and clinical support personnel
  • Ability and willingness to work with handicapped individuals
  • SharePoint and post-acute CRM proficiency
  • Understanding of medical reimbursement and terminology
  • Understanding of Hanger Clinic front-office duties preferred
  • Ability to use computers, Windows-based software, email, and necessary office equipment
  • Ability to be credentialed in major hospital systems
