About the role

  • Formulate prosthetic and orthotic device designs
  • Select materials, make cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts
  • Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments
  • Evaluate and adjust devices for fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality
  • Instruct patients in use of devices
  • Resolve device issues to ensure patient satisfaction
  • Provide follow-up with patients and physicians
  • Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health professionals
  • Manage materials, quality, performance, costs, and operational/financial performance
  • Develop relationships with physicians, case managers, and referral sources
  • Implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets
  • Maintain detailed clinical notes and patient records
  • Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians as needed
  • Assist other clinical staff and administrative reimbursement activities
  • Follow safety, Medicare, governmental, bloodborne pathogen, and OSHA requirements
  • Perform on-call, hospital calls, float between clinics, or special projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from ABC or BOC, OR a baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics (or foreign equivalent) and current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state licensure where required
  • Candidates certified in one discipline may be considered while completing residency in the other discipline
  • Candidates without certification or board eligibility may be considered with at least 5 years of demonstrated experience providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under supervision of a certified clinician
  • Thorough understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy and physiology
  • Thorough understanding of componentry and suitability and reliability for specific uses
  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology
  • Effective oral and written communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to instruct clinical and non-clinical personnel and customers
  • Active listening, reading, and comprehension skills
  • Ability to assess patient condition and advise physicians on treatment options
  • Ability to build professional relationships with physicians, therapists, and patients
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Integrity, honesty, transparency, and respect in all relationships
  • Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques and lift 50 pounds independently
