About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide customer service to patients, fellow employees, and referral sources through front-office coordination and administration
  • Counsel patients regarding financial responsibility after benefits verification
  • Obtain co-payments and over-the-counter cash, complete cash receipts, and handle bank deposits
  • Maintain accurate patient files and protect the privacy and security of protected health information under HIPAA
  • Assist with patient follow-up and quality assurance activities
  • Enter patient demographics, insurance verifications, billing data, referrals, authorizations, and prescriptions
  • Manage multiple phone lines and produce clear, concise, accurate written documentation
  • File patient charts and documentation according to established guidelines
  • Coordinate clinician schedules and coverage for appointments and out-of-office calls
  • Perform other assigned duties and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum two to four years of customer service, administrative, or related experience preferred/required in the posting
  • Minimum score of 70 on Hanger’s Talent Bullseye assessment required
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and meet Motor Vehicle Safety Policy standards
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, telephone, and written communication skills
  • Ability to key 30 words per minute accurately
  • Ability to work with handicapped individuals
  • Understanding of Alpha filing system
  • Understanding of medical reimbursement, medical terminology, and front-office receptionist duties preferred
  • Ability to use Windows-based software and email
  • Ability to use office equipment including fax machines, calculator, postage machine, and copier
  • Ability to act with integrity, center work on patients, collaborate openly, innovate, and focus on outcomes
