About the role
- Greet and assist patients upon arrival, providing information on wait times and addressing inquiries at the front desk or reception area.
- Verify and update patient demographics and insurance details during check-in; handle walk-in registrations.
- Collect patient payments, including deductibles, copays, and co-insurance at the front desk.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments, including cast and measure, delivery, and prosthetic care plans.
- Serve as a liaison for clinic services, offering information on patient experience programs, support groups, and other resources.
- Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team to obtain necessary patient information.
- Ensure accurate and complete electronic health records for all patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Less than one year of customer service, administrative or related experience required.
- Experience in a receptionist position or experience with medical front office procedures preferred.
- Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
- Strong interpersonal, oral (including telephone) and written communication skills.
- Ability to key 30 words per minute with accuracy required.
- Ability to work with handicapped individuals.
- Understanding of Alpha filing system.
- Understanding of medical reimbursement and terminology and an understanding of front office (receptionist) duties preferred.
- Ability to use a computer, including Windows-based software and e-mail.
- Ability to use all necessary office equipment, facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, copier, etc.
