About the role
- The Senior Materials Project Manager is responsible for support to R&D for the material project management for the development and introduction of new products to manufacturing.
- Represent Hamilton Procurement on R&D new product project teams supporting development activities and ensuring supply of materials
- Process R&D Purchase Requisitions for tooling, fixtures, NRE’s etc.
- Coordinate all material requirements for NPI projects.
- Communicate NPI purchase requirements to appropriate Commodity Buyer.
- Ensure material availability for NPI projects.
- Track and Report.
- Support BZ insourcing project by coordinating the preparation of documentation and quotes packages for domestic suppliers.
- Develop analytics utilizing BI to drive efficiency and cost savings initiatives.
- Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and other cross functional partners to establish a formal NPI development and launch process with checklists to ensure product is ready to move through each phase of the NPI process.
- Engage early in the R&D development process to ensure preferred suppliers are being utilized wherever possible in the new product designs.
- Support the Purchasing team to implement risk mitigation plans for single sourced suppliers and identify single sourced suppliers early in the development phase.
- Develop NPI Specific performance criteria for supplier scorecard with key stakeholders.
- Develop Purchasing NPI KPI's to measure success of product launches.
- Work closely with Commodity Buyers on the transfer of products to Production ensuring materials coverage through component lead times.
- Cross functional collaboration.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated Project management skills
- Proficient in MS Office Products (Excel, PPT etc.)
- Strong collaboration and cross-functional skills
- Working knowledge of RFP’s, RFQ’s, required.
- APICS (CPIM OR CSCP) or ISM (CPM) certification a plus.
- Working knowledge of MRP II system and computer system.
- MS D365 and SAP a plus.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Supply Chain, or Business.
- Must have minimum 5 years in New Product Introduction environment.
- Minimum 10 years in purchasing within manufacturing/OEM industries.
- Experience working with R&D and NPI.
- Regulated industries desirable.
- Experience in purchasing multiple commodities (Electronics, Plastics, Mechanical etc).
