About the role

  • Lead technical delivery: oversee and deliver complex studies, analytics, and technical reports for forestry management, conservation, and restoration projects in the Philippines for now (and then possibly in broader Southeast Asia).
  • Carbon project leadership: guide the formulation, feasibility, and certification of emission reduction projects under major standards (such as Verra, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo, ERS), ensuring technical excellence and market integrity.
  • Strategic advisory: advise clients—including NGOs, private developers, and governments—on voluntary carbon markets, project structuring, and climate finance strategies aligned with evolving regional and international frameworks.
  • Stakeholder engagement: build and maintain trusted relationships with project teams, clients, government agencies, and partner organisations; represent HAMERKOP at regional forums and industry events.
  • Policy and market intelligence: monitor and interpret climate policy, carbon market trends, and relevant legislation in the Philippines; provide thought leadership and contribute to knowledge sharing.
  • Team leadership: mentor junior consultants, contribute to internal capacity building, and help shape HAMERKOP’s growing Southeast Asian practice.

Requirements

  • Required BSc or MSc in forestry, environmental science, conservation, ecology, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5–10 years of professional experience in forestry, land management, or climate-related projects, with significant experience in Southeast Asia.
  • Strong understanding of carbon markets functioning.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills; attention to detail and a track record of delivering high-quality outputs.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Tagalog.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multicultural, distributed team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach and a commitment to mentoring others.
