About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Driving across Canterbury, Otago or Southland to meet with dairy farmers - understanding their operations, their challenges, and how Halter can transform their business.
  • Prospecting: building your pipeline from scratch, qualifying leads, and managing the full sales cycle from first conversation to signed contract.
  • Running on-farm demonstrations that turn sceptics into believers.
  • Networking at field days, rural events, and within farming communities to build Halter's brand.
  • Forecasting your pipeline with your Regional Sales Manager and working to continuously sharpen your sales process.
  • Driving across your territory to meet with beef farmers - prospecting new operations, running on-farm demos, and closing deals with a customer base that's earlier in the Halter journey.
  • Owning the full sales cycle for beef in your region, from initial conversations through to signed contracts.
  • Visiting existing customer farms regularly - checking in on performance, animal outcomes, and how farmers are getting value from the platform, then identifying opportunities to expand Halter usage across their operation.
  • Acting as the voice of your customers back into Halter's product and support teams - your field insights directly shape how we build.
  • Working closely with your BD counterparts to share learnings and ensure a seamless experience for farmers across both dairy and beef.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • You've recently graduated (or are about to) - agriculture, business, science, or any degree that's taught you how to think and work hard.
  • You have a genuine connection to farming - you've grown up on a farm, studied it, worked in it, or are deeply passionate about it.
  • You're competitive. You set goals and you don't stop until you've hit them.
  • You're the type of person who runs towards a challenge, not away from it.
  • You're resilient. Things won't always go your way. You'll learn fast, adapt, and come back stronger.
  • You can build trust quickly with people from all walks of life - particularly farmers who've heard every pitch before.
  • You're hungry to grow. Not just in your role, but as a person. You want to be better in six months than you are today.
  • You hold a full New Zealand driver's licence and are willing to travel regularly across your region.
