About the role
- Oversee drawing reviews, CapEx planning, and automation feedback for Heat Treatment as part of the Factories as a Service team
- Serve as Lead Engineer for scoping, designing, planning, and automation feedback for Heat Treatment across all material types and configurations
- Review drawings for manufacturability quickly and select appropriate CapEx for part numbers and assemblies
- Advise automation team on best practices for Heat Treatment production and inspection
- Recruit and lead 1-2 Heat Treatment Manufacturing Engineers
- Assist in building new factories for existing production scope and contribute to manufacturing processes for new products where Heat Treatment is designed-in
- Analyse customer drawings and current state of production to design, build, and guide automation of Heat Treatment DFM, Production, and Inspection Lines
- Deliver cost/schedule/solutions in partnership with customers and the Federal team
- Own CapEx planning, vendor selection, and costing
Requirements
- Senior Manager or above level who’s technically in the weeds, with deep expertise in Heat Treatment production and inspection
- Able to travel ~25% to DOD and prime facilities
- Capable of leading 1-2 Heat Treatment MEs
- Able to analyse DFM, and design/plan production and inspection lines for Heat Treatment
- Prior experience standing up new Heat Treatment lines in Aerospace, Automotive, or other domains
- Ability to move quickly and make risk-adjusted decisions
- Can analyse drawings at a technical level and plan Heat Treatment lines or factories from scratch
- ITAR requirements: must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
- Willingness to relocate to Los Angeles if not LA-based (relocation stipend offered)
