About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the execution of HTB's data platform and analytics strategy
Take operational command of a 10–12 person team across data engineering, analytics engineering, and BI
Drive our Snowflake-to-BigQuery consolidation
Establish delivery rhythms, SLOs, and quality gates
Scale the function: company-wide data governance and data contracts, self-serve analytics adopted by every department
Lead and grow a 10 person team of data engineers, analytics engineers, and BI specialists
Own the delivery roadmap of the data platform: prioritize across stakeholder demands, set quarterly OKRs, and keep commitments visible and honest
Drive the consolidation onto our GCP-native architecture
Operationalize data governance company-wide
Establish engineering discipline: SLOs for data freshness and pipeline reliability, cost observability, incident response, and documentation standards
Champion self-serve analytics, defining the company's metrics layer and raising data literacy
Partner with the AI/ML function to ensure the platform feeds feature stores, model training, and AI product telemetry
Represent the data function to the executive team.

Requirements

What you’ll need

8–10+ years in data engineering/analytics, including 4+ years managing data teams (managers and/or senior ICs) of 8 or more people in a product or SaaS company
Proven delivery of a modern cloud data platform — ideally GCP (BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow); strong experience with another major cloud warehouse stack also counts.
Hands-on fluency with streaming architectures: Kafka or Pub/Sub, schema management (Avro/Protobuf, schema registries), and data contracts between producing services and the platform
Track record of establishing data governance and quality practice that engineers actually follow — compatibility policies, CI gates, lineage, and documentation
Strong analytics leadership: building metrics layers, BI adoption, and experimentation practices that change how a business makes decisions
Executive-grade communication — you can defend an architecture decision to engineers in the morning and a budget to the CFO in the afternoon
Bonus XP: exposure to ML/AI data infrastructure (feature stores, model telemetry), cybersecurity or gaming/community-driven products, ClickHouse/Druid.
