About the role
- Inspect building structures to determine the need for repairs and renovations.
- Generate and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule.
- Manage facility related vendor contracts.
- Manage the upkeep of equipment and facility related supplies to meet health.
- Manage facility renovations and updates.
- Assist with new facility construction organization and planning.
- Participate in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings.
- Maintain professional affiliations and any required certifications.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
- A minimum of 5 years of facility maintenance experience
- 3 years of management experience, preferably in a geriatric care setting
- Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
- Proficiency with repair tools and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Great time management, organization and prioritization abilities
- Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time
- Management and leadership skills
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
- Skilled in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and software applications
- Ability to work without close supervision and exercise independent judgment
- Knowledge of physical, mental, and social needs of frail older adults
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively with staff, public and private agencies, government officials and local consumers
