About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of UX and visual design across H&R Block’s website and digital customer experiences
- Drive customer-centered design decisions using qualitative research, customer insights, analytics, and usability testing
- Lead and develop a team of UX and visual designers through coaching, feedback, performance management, and career development support
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Content, Analytics, Research, and Customer Experience teams
- Establish and maintain digital design standards, design systems, accessibility requirements, and best practices across web properties
- Influence website roadmap priorities by advocating for user needs while balancing business objectives and technical considerations
- Oversee end-to-end design processes from concept and wireframes through final visual design and implementation support
- Champion experimentation, testing, and continuous improvement through A/B testing and experience optimization
- Ensure digital experiences align with brand standards while driving usability, accessibility, and conversion goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in digital product design, UX design, web design, digital experience design, or related disciplines
- 3+ years of people leadership experience, including managing and developing design teams
- Experience leading design strategy and execution for large-scale consumer-facing websites or digital platforms
- Strong knowledge of UX research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and accessibility best practices
- Experience building and scaling design systems and establishing governance for digital experiences
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across a highly matrixed organization
- Experience leveraging analytics, customer insights, and testing to make informed design decisions
- Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and storytelling skills
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma and related collaboration platforms
- Experience working within agile product development environments preferred
- Experience in a large matrixed marketing organization preferred
- Experience with franchised, multi-unit retail, financial services, and/or seasonal businesses preferred
- Tax or financial services industry experience preferred
