About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development of warehouse design packages including material flow diagrams, facility layouts, material handling equipment designs, automation designs, storage media designs, process designs, and slotting and pick path analyses
  • Analyze client data with the Data Analytics team to determine order profiles, storage media application, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, and ABC analysis
  • Prepare engineering calculations and documents covering storage and shipping capacity, facility sizing, zoning, slotting, waving, and related operating concepts
  • Facilitate reviews with engineering peers, WMS Implementation, operations, and other key work stream leads
  • Design facility layouts, storage media, and material flow with appropriate equipment supporting the Concept of Operations
  • Support business development responses to RFPs by developing materials and presenting them to potential clients
  • Lead detailed engineering for new business awards from conceptualization through implementation-ready design
  • Perform data analyses, develop material handling specifications, obtain vendor quotes, and generate detailed AutoCAD layouts
  • Conduct joint planning sessions and gap analyses with clients; document scope changes and escalate issues
  • Prepare WMS configuration documentation covering locations, slotting, zoning, put-away and picking sequences, and allocation rules
  • Support identification and design of new WMS and interface requirements
  • Manage material handling and automation vendors through scheduling, permitting, installation, commissioning, punch lists, and performance testing
  • Provide leadership and develop/mentor junior engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 4 years of engineering experience in supply chain management, logistics, warehousing, or a related field
  • Experience leading Engineering teams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Extensive AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Time study measurement, such as MOST, a plus
  • Third-Party Logistics (3PL) experience
  • Warehousing, distribution center, or fulfillment experience
  • Analytical project and resource management experience
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test if required after a conditional offer
  • Must comply with GXO COVID safety policies and applicable CDC, OSHA, state, and local requirements
