About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Champion operational safety and support the use of hand tools and dock-related equipment
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for loading and unloading dock activities
  • Coordinate trailer movements according to daily operational priorities
  • Manage and sequence trailer docking, release, and yard flow
  • Monitor dock conditions and exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified
  • Partner with operations, transportation, yard services, and customer-facing teams
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure dock activities follow process guidelines, safety standards, and site SWIs
  • Support dock and yard organization according to 7S workplace standards
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify risks, inefficiencies, or delays
  • Use Microsoft Office 365 and Google Suite to track activity, communicate updates, and document issues
  • Provide coverage and operational support to site leadership and Lead peers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience working in a warehouse, distribution, dock, yard, or transportation-related environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate dock or yard activities in a fast-paced operation
  • Working knowledge of trailer docking, release procedures, and trailer anatomy
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and across varied terrain
  • Ability to follow defined processes, safety standards, and escalation protocols
  • Strong communication skills for customer-facing and cross-functional interactions
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office 365 and/or Google Suite applications
  • Previous lead, coordinator, or informal leadership experience preferred
  • Exposure to safety programs, yard management systems (YMS), or WMS environments preferred
  • Experience supporting or enforcing safe work practices and stop-work authority preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with basic hand tools and dock equipment preferred
  • Ability to work extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, and traverse uneven surfaces throughout the shift
  • Ability to maintain situational awareness in a high-traffic dock and yard environment
  • Ability to support a flexible schedule as business needs require
  • Ability to carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs and perform team lifts
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of more than 4 hours
  • Ability to walk continuously more than 10,000 steps (4–5 miles) per day
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, push, and pull objects
  • Ability to tolerate hot and cold work environments
  • Ability to use powered and/or manual lifting equipment according to established protocols and safety guidelines
