About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and maintain Workbench components and patterns, including complex components with variables, variants, and tokenized styles
  • Own and evolve semantic and functional token architecture during the Brand Refresh and move toward theming
  • Partner with engineering on component consistency, design decisions, implementation reviews, technical plans, and pull requests
  • Contribute to AI tooling, structured documentation, Storybook examples, and content legible to LLMs
  • Support product designers and engineers through Office Hours, Slack, and asynchronous review
  • Document and publish design decisions, usage guidance, and component rationale
  • Participate in decisions about component architecture, naming conventions, and migration strategy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years working on a product design systems team through the full lifecycle: design, implementation, documentation, and adoption
  • Experience with token architecture and component API design required
  • 7+ years working on a product design team
  • Meaningful experience using AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, or similar
  • Ability to direct AI assistance, evaluate its output, and identify where human judgment is required
  • Ability to pair effectively with engineering and understand technical plans and constraints
  • Ability to contribute to implementation decisions and code repositories
  • Solid understanding of WCAG AA guidelines
  • Expert knowledge of AI design tools and Figma, including complex component construction, variable and token usage, and prototyping
  • Basic GitHub process knowledge
  • High degree of design craft and polish
  • Documentation expertise and ability to educate and align peers across disciplines
  • Ability to advocate for systemic consistency while remaining collaborative and service-minded
  • Experience with LLM-readable documentation, MCP servers, or AI-assisted design tooling
