About the role

  • Operate and scale Gusto’s corporate, datacenter, and cloud networks with emphasis on reliability and security
  • Deploy new network tooling focused on scalability, reliability, and security
  • Write code to monitor, configure, validate, and operate the corporate network
  • Develop and maintain consistency within the networking infrastructure
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support critical services during non-standard hours when required
  • Travel quarterly to offices to implement, drive projects, and troubleshoot
  • Partner with security teams to develop and maintain secure network infrastructure across cloud and physical offices
  • Collaborate with ENV (facilities) and A/V teams that depend on reliable networking

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience, including deployment, configuration, and management of routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and security solutions
  • Deep expertise in networking protocols and traditional vendor technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto
  • Strong background with Linux systems (shells, daemons, processes)
  • Programming skills in Python or Go
  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating distributed services with robust monitoring for production networks
  • Skilled in cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) with a solid understanding of automation, orchestration, and instrumentation practices
  • Ability to participate in a regular on-call rotation and work non-standard hours, including nights or weekends when needed
  • Ability to travel to Gusto offices once per quarter for implementation, projects, and troubleshooting
  • Partnering experience with security, facilities (ENV), and A/V stakeholders
