Inspire our Partners by guiding them in designing and building with Gusto's API products; demonstrate solutions through pre-built apps, workflows, or directly using the API with tools like Postman.
Lead the technical success of Partners by collaborating with cross-functional teams; support development and scaling of their payroll business, identifying and mitigating risks to development and timelines.
Drive Partners' product development as a key workstream to create a successful and sustainable payroll business through strategic support and collaboration.
Diagnose Partner challenges and present recommendations in a consultative manner.
Understand, track and document product feedback and competitive intelligence and advocate for development by sharing with product management.
Be the first point of contact for technical issues or questions related to Embedded APIs; lead product overviews, recommend features, and perform quality reviews to ensure customer readiness.
Build tools and systems to scale the Technical Solutions function and establish foundational processes for the new team.
Work closely with internal Engineering, Product, and Business teams to support Partners throughout their lifecycle.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 1+ years of engineering experience.
5+ years of experience in a similar role focused on driving the success of external customers with complex API integrations.
Demonstrated success dealing with ambiguity in a high-growth environment - capable of prioritizing complex workloads and demanding stakeholders.
A structured thinker with exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, confident explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, from individual contributors to C-level executives.
Problem solver with strong product sense who has experience investigating, triaging, and resolving complex technical issues with cross-functional teams.
Scrappy, entrepreneurial, builder mindset; experience pitching platform capabilities, overseeing product development, establishing processes, and rolling out tooling or resources.
A team player who thrives on cross-functional collaboration to understand gaps and improve systems and processes.
Strong nice to haves:
Technically adept in APIs and able to explain how APIs simplify complex domain problems for developers.
Technical program or project management experience including stakeholder, resource, and timeline management accountability.
Proven success overseeing product development lifecycle and designing/implementing complex solutions for enterprise customers.
Experience as a first or early hire at a fast-growing startup.
Knowledge of payroll software and/or Vertical SaaS.
