About the role
- Own Gusto’s high-volume vendor contracting pipeline, driving contract reviews, negotiations, and approvals in partnership with Procurement, Privacy, Security, and other stakeholders.
- Design and implement smarter contracting processes, thresholds, playbooks, and tooling to separate routine from high-risk and speed approvals.
- Lead adoption and optimization of contract review tooling, including Ironclad and GCAI, and pilot next-gen AI solutions.
- Build metrics-driven workflows; track, analyze, and report on AI adoption, cycle times, and execution rates.
- Develop and refine templates, playbooks, and approval flows to improve efficiency across procurement and cross-functional teams.
- Lead trainings and education for legal teams and cross-functional partners on contracting best practices and AI innovations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 7+ years of experience in contract management, commercial contracting, or vendor contract review and negotiation (in-house strongly preferred).
- Proven ability to take ownership of high-volume contracting pipelines and turn them into well-oiled, scalable systems.
- Hands-on expertise with contract lifecycle management systems (Ironclad strongly preferred) and AI review tools (GCAI or similar).
- Demonstrated success building and improving processes, not just running them.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders across legal, procurement, and the business.
- Familiarity with regulated industries (e.g., financial services, payroll/tax SaaS, healthcare) (preferred).
Benefits
- Employees who are based in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City expected to work from office 2-3 days per week
- Secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection required when approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office
- Equal opportunity employer and commitment to reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities
- Access to Total Rewards philosophy (link referenced)
