About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as design authority for audiovisual technology across Gusto's physical footprint
- Act as technical director behind company events
- Design, test, troubleshoot, and implement AV technology in offices, meeting spaces, and event spaces across San Francisco, Denver, New York, Burlingame, and Scottsdale
- Author and maintain Gusto's AV standard covering room tiers, signal flow, control systems, camera and lighting standards, and event production baselines
- Architect and own technical production for company-wide meetings, customer events, fireside chats, onsites, and podcast productions
- Lead the AV workstream for the Zoom-to-Google-Meet migration across 200+ conference rooms
- Own the multi-site AV capital roadmap and vendor relationships
- Manage vendor and project delivery for office buildouts and upgrades
- Administer Google Meet and Zoom room fleets, Logitech and Neat endpoints, and streaming/event platforms
- Monitor room health, dashboards, and firmware lifecycle
- Serve as escalation path for the IT Geeks Support team
- Use AI to automate room health reporting, documentation, show-control logic, and vendor/RFP analysis
- Coach IT Geeks and event technicians on tier-one AV and day-of production
- Support in-house video production projects and document AV domains
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of AV engineering experience
- Experience as the senior-most or design-owning AV resource for a multi-site organization
- Experience producing designs of record, including room tiers, signal flow, rack elevations, and control narratives
- Demonstrated technical direction of high-stakes live events, including failover planning
- AV control system programming; QSC strongly preferred, with Crestron, Biamp, and Extron experience a bonus
- Video switching and production experience with Barco E2, Ross Ultrix, or Blackmagic ATEM
- Audio routing over IP networks such as Dante
- Ability to operate an audio board with at least 16 channels, work with microphone systems, and tune a room
- Experience with theatrical and architectural lighting systems and fixtures, including ETC, Paradigm, Martin, and Chroma Q
- DMX networking
- Advanced knowledge of Google Meet, Zoom Rooms, Neat, Logitech, meeting-space technologies, acoustical design, and lighting
- Knowledge of video routing and signal flow across live event productions, digital signage networks, conference rooms, and virtual events
- Experience with live streaming topology, P2P, AWS MediaLive, AWS MediaConnect, encoding, Wirecast, vMix, and OBS
- PTZ and broadcast camera experience, with Sony Cinema Line familiarity
- Show programming with QLab, Stream Deck, Bitfocus Companion, and OSC
- Post-production experience in DaVinci Resolve
- Solid network architecture fundamentals as applied to AV-over-IP
- Daily use of AI tools and ability to build with them, including scripting control logic, generating documentation and runbooks, and analyzing platform data via APIs
- Experience owning or materially driving an annual AV budget and integrator/manufacturer relationships
- Hands-on role based in San Francisco, with travel to Gusto sites and event-hours flexibility
