About the role
- Create High-Quality Character Animations
- Develop animations that express character personality and align with the creative vision set by the Creative Director and Art Director.
- Demonstrate Strong Animation Fundamentals
- Apply expert knowledge of posing, timing, spacing, and weight to create believable motion.
- Push Animation Quality
- Continuously refine your work and contribute ideas to improve animation quality and pipelines.
- Problem Solve & Optimize
- Help identify and resolve animation workflow and implementation challenges in-engine.
- Collaborate Across Teams
- Work closely with designers, engineers, and artists to ensure animations integrate smoothly in Unreal Engine.
- Grow by Level
- Associate: Learn pipelines, take feedback, and build production-ready animations.
- Mid-Level: Own animation tasks, collaborate cross-functionally, and improve workflows.
- Senior: Drive animation quality, mentor teammates, and contribute to creative and technical direction.
Requirements
- Associate Level: 1–3 years of professional or equivalent experience (internships, personal projects, shipped indie titles)
- Strong understanding of animation principles
- Experience using 3D animation software (preferably 3ds Max)
- Passion for games and animation
- Willingness to learn and receive feedback
- Mid-Level: 3–5+ years of professional game industry experience
- Proven experience creating hand-keyed character animations
- Experience working with motion capture
- Comfortable working with custom rigs
- Strong time management and task ownership
- Senior: 5+ years of professional experience
- Shipped game titles
- Advanced character animation expertise
- Experience mentoring or leading animation initiatives
- Strong pipeline and problem-solving skills
- All Levels Should Have Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- A strong portfolio showcasing past or current work
- Strong knowledge of animation fundamentals
- Experience working with custom character rigs
- Experience with hand-keyed animation
- Familiarity with motion capture pipelines
- Ability to work in 3ds Max using proprietary tools
- Understanding of technical limitations of game engines and consoles
- Flexibility to iterate and work under pressure
- Ability to estimate task timelines accurately
- Strong work ethic and team-first attitude
- Bonus XP (Not required, but we’d be excited if you bring some of these to the table!)
- Extensive experience with Unreal Engine
- Cinematic animation experience
- Character and prop rigging experience
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices
