About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead end-to-end design and implementation of Appian-based business process automation solutions
- Gather requirements, plan architecture, and perform hands-on development across Appian Cloud and on-premises environments
- Translate business needs into Appian solutions integrating REST/SOAP APIs, RPA, AWS/Azure, and third-party systems
- Ensure compliance with security, scalability, and performance standards
- Serve as technical expert and trusted advisor to project teams and clients
- Develop and present solution architectures, technical roadmaps, and migration plans
- Mentor developers and junior architects
- Stay current with Appian updates, emerging technologies, and industry trends
- Drive Agile delivery practices and participate in sprint planning
- Oversee deployments and post-launch support
- Develop reusable frameworks, accelerators, and best-practices documentation
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals, and presenting solutions to prospective clients
Requirements
What you’ll need- US Citizenship or eligibility for federal security clearance (as required by contract)
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- A MINIMUM of EIGHT (8) years of professional experience in IT consulting, digital transformation, or enterprise software delivery
- A MINIMUM of FIVE (5) years of hands-on experience architecting and developing solutions in Appian
- Advanced proficiency with Appian SAIL, Process Modeler, Rules, and integrations with REST/SOAP, web services, and cloud platforms
- Current Appian Lead Developer or Solution Architect certifications
- Demonstrated history of ongoing learning and certification in related technologies
- Expert-level understanding of Appian best practices, solution scalability, performance tuning, and cloud security principles
- Experience leading Agile teams and managing the full solution delivery lifecycle, including CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices
- An active Federal or DoD security clearance (nice to have)
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (nice to have)
- Demonstrated leadership in client delivery, technical mentoring, and driving platform adoption and innovation (nice to have)
- Experience in project management within technology or consulting, especially in agile development environments (nice to have)
- Ability to identify and document business process requirements, develop process flow analyses, perform data modeling, and contribute to functional design and project planning (nice to have)
- Hands-on experience with Java development and Maven build tools (nice to have)
- At least 2 years of recent experience working on software development projects for the federal government, including Federal Acquisition Management (nice to have)
- Familiarity with Appian BPM, IBM WebSphere, Mule, LAMP/JBOSS, HADOOP, Java, and Microsoft/.Net (nice to have)
- Background in Enterprise Application Integration (SOA, ESB) and n-tier client-server architectures (nice to have)
- Proactive approach to exploring and adopting new Appian platform features (nice to have)
