About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve utility clients in Arizona and the Southwest across investor-owned and public utility projects.
- Lead delivery of major capital infrastructure, power generation, power transmission and distribution, and utility internal projects.
- Manage teams delivering strategic advisory, capital project delivery, engineering studies, financial management, grants management, regulatory compliance and monitoring, technology transformation, data analytics, and risk management consulting engagements.
- Focus on grid transformation, infrastructure expansion, technology innovation, sustainability, and electrification for electric and gas utilities.
- Assess project performance with client stakeholders.
- Identify and manage project risks and issues, keep clients informed, and proactively manage expectations.
- Manage and mentor project teams and coordinate projects and workstreams.
- Manage, monitor, and evaluate project activities and overall project performance.
- Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and overall strategy.
- Prepare, review, and maintain project documentation and reports.
- Oversee and maintain project contracts and financials.
- Establish and report on key performance indicators.
- Analyze project data and produce insights to optimize performance.
- Identify problems and shortfalls and propose solutions.
- Liaise with stakeholders and track timelines.
- Support development and rollout of project management methodology as a coach and change agent.
- Coordinate with client account and project teams to develop innovative solutions and proposals.
- Support growth and client satisfaction within client account teams.
- May include grants management compliance.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagements.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, public policy and/or related discipline AND Seven (7+) plus years post-graduation major projects management experience in the power utilities sector.
- Commercial management of large-scale infrastructure programs, including power transmission/distribution, hyperscale infrastructure projects, nuclear power plants, mission critical or multi-state transmission pathways projects.
- Knowledge of all phases of the capital projects and project management life cycle beyond IT project management.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with stakeholder and financial management.
- Ability to visualize project and program data, synthesize insights, and make data-informed decisions.
- Ability to assume ownership of significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close-knit team.
- Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting deadlines.
- Proposal writing experience, including budget development and managing proposal timelines with subject matter experts.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
- Master’s degree in electrical or power systems engineering, business administration, or related discipline preferred.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint preferred.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations to clients or executive audiences preferred.
- PMP Certification preferred.
