About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support leadership of electric and gas utilities in addressing priority challenges involving commercial and operating models
- Serve as project lead on engagements for US utility and energy clients navigating energy transformation
- Understand client business challenges related to the energy transition
- Own and develop client relationships within the utilities and adjacent industries
- Support strategy, design, and delivery of project workstreams
- Coordinate and facilitate client and stakeholder meetings
- Prepare and communicate solutions through reports and presentations
- Engage in business development and deliver documentation and requests for proposals
- Lead and manage day-to-day internal teams across multiple workstreams
- Coach and mentor project team members to ensure quality analysis and deliverables
- Provide technical and strategic input to project directors and partners
- Lead workshops and communicate complex information clearly
- Develop strategy storylines throughout project engagements
- Develop business models and analyze multiple scenarios
- Oversee development of target operating models
- Complete strategy roadmaps for implementation
- Analyze macro trends, competition, and regulatory environments affecting utility strategy
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagement
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science or related discipline AND Seven (7+) plus years of relevant post-graduation industry or consulting experience; OR Master’s degree in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science or related discipline AND Five (5+) plus years of relevant post-graduation industry or consulting experience
- Strategy background from an equivalent consulting firm, with a preference in the utilities industry
- Deep understanding of business and project management fundamentals
- Proven business development experience within the utilities or energy industry
- Advanced experience creating and developing business and financial models in Microsoft Excel
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, with comfort leveraging AI-tools to enhance workflow
- Proven problem-solving skills with ability to process complex information and present it clearly and simply
- Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and deliver against tight deadlines
- Experience developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences
- Track record of leading and managing teams effectively
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Highly developed organizational and management skills
- Inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
- Tireless attention to detail
- Ability to travel weekly as required
- Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location 1-3 days per week
