About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Originate, close, and lead large and complex client engagements
- Manage staff and assist with related business development efforts
- Track and analyze energy market trends
- Translate client inquiries and challenges into actionable scopes of work
- Compile reports, presentations, and other documents communicating solutions, strategies, and analysis to clients
- Support day-to-day client relationship management
- Develop and use analytical models, programming, and simulations to forecast market prices, conduct research and development, and create productivity and accuracy tools
- Review and approve model outputs through data collection, manipulation, and analysis, including spreadsheet and database creation and management
- Analyze ISO/RTO markets across North America, including energy pricing, capacity auctions, ancillary services, load composition, and demand response
- Supervise simulations of future power-transmission-grid dispatch using an economic dispatch model
- Review generating-resource additions and retirements using capacity expansion models across ISO/RTO markets
- Help develop Guidehouse’s bi-annual Reference Case and expand the client base
- Mentor junior consultants on energy markets, business development, and client management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to the nature of client engagements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, energy finance, or engineering AND 5+ years of post-graduation related work experience; OR Master’s degree in those disciplines AND 3+ years of post-graduation related work experience
- Post-graduation work experience with economic dispatch models such as Aurora, Origin, PLEXOS, BID3, or PSO
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with data analytics, data modeling, and visualization
- Proactive and independent work style
- Ability to own significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close-knit team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel
- Ability to work in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location
- Currently reside in the contiguous United States
- Preference for candidates within reasonable driving distance of a core Guidehouse Office or Client Office location
- Experience in generation and storage asset management is preferred
- Graduate degree (Masters, MBA, PhD) is preferred
