About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Plan, execute, and coordinate laboratory experiments supporting scientific research activities
Implement laboratory techniques, methods, and procedures according to established protocols
Perform routine and specialized laboratory techniques for ongoing research studies
Operate laboratory instruments, machinery, and equipment safely and effectively
Prepare specimens, reagents, samples, and equipment for experimental use
Manage, label, track, and store laboratory samples according to storage and safety requirements
Analyze experimental procedures and results for accuracy and data integrity
Document and report laboratory procedures, observations, and findings
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, materials, and consumables
Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments, glassware, and equipment
Maintain organized laboratory work areas in accordance with safety and quality standards
Adhere to laboratory safety, compliance, and operational guidelines
Provide day-to-day operational and administrative support to teams supporting the National Institutes of Health

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in a Science field
Minimum of two (2) years working in a laboratory environment
Experience performing biological research
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust
Approved Public Trust adjudication required before onboarding
Active Public Trust or existing suitability preferred
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices preferred
Understanding of scientific research, organizational structure, and laboratory resources preferred
Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills preferred
