About the role
- Proficient in Evaluation & Management & simple GI scopes in the outpatient setting
- Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-10 Diagnosis codes, along with CPT/HCPCS codes
- Accurately code conditions and procedures according to official coding guidelines
- Review coding related denials and recommend appropriate actions
- Maintain knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles and governmental regulations
- Achieve and maintain 95% accuracy in coding
- Work the review queue daily and communicate corrections to the facility
- Report downtime immediately to administrative staff
- Provide accurate answers to coding/billing questions within 8 hours
- Notify staff if unable to meet turnaround standards
- Check Guidehouse email system at least every two hours
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 3+ years of Physician Coding experience, both IP and OP coding for physician claims
- 3+ years coding Evaluation & Management, including teaching physicians
- CPC certification from AAPC
- EMR experience
- Must maintain credential throughout employment
- Must be able to work independently, multi-task well and interface with all levels of personnel as well as clients
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- High level of accuracy
- Strong working knowledge & experience with Federal & State coding regulations and guidelines
