About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and transform actuarial pricing capabilities across Guardian’s Group Benefits portfolio, including dental, vision, absence and disability, life, and supplemental health offerings
  • Serve as a technical actuarial pricing leader and strategic transformation thought partner
  • Manage pricing analyses, including experience monitoring, actual-to-expected reviews, assumption assessments, and profitability driver identification
  • Partner with senior leaders, pricing actuaries, data scientists, technology teams, and business stakeholders to modernize Group Benefits pricing tools and processes
  • Integrate predictive analytics, automation, and AI-enabled decision support to improve pricing accuracy, consistency, and efficiency
  • Translate complex actuarial, financial, and technical analysis into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
  • Lead and develop a team of actuarial professionals and students by setting priorities, managing performance, and building capabilities
  • Report to the Head of Group Benefits Pricing & Analytics
  • Travel as determined by the People Leader

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant experience in Group Benefits pricing or related insurance disciplines
  • Strong understanding of manual rating, experience rating, risk segmentation, rate adequacy, and profitability analysis
  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights
  • Strategic problem-solving skills; experience applying predictive analytics, machine learning, or pricing modernization solutions preferred
  • Ability to influence senior leaders, technical teams, and business stakeholders through clear business recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables simultaneously
  • Demonstrated experience leading actuarial teams, developing talent, setting priorities, and managing performance
  • At least 5 years of experience in the insurance industry
  • FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
