About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead high-voltage substation and interconnection projects from engineering through commissioning and closeout
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk mitigation plans, and key deliverables
- Manage and influence EPC contractors, engineering consultants, utilities, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Lead technical reviews of substation engineering packages, protection and control designs, equipment specifications, and construction drawings
- Review and direct high-voltage design documentation, studies, and engineering deliverables
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and applicable electrical codes
- Monitor contractor and supplier performance, resolve issues, and ensure contractual and technical compliance
- Conduct site visits and field assessments to evaluate progress and resolve technical and construction challenges
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Communicate project status, opportunities, challenges, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Support procurement of major high-voltage equipment and materials
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive best practices across the substation project portfolio
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience managing high-voltage substation, transmission, interconnection, or utility infrastructure projects
- Experience reviewing and interpreting high-voltage engineering drawings, specifications, studies, and construction deliverables
- Knowledge of substation design, construction practices, protection and control systems, and utility interconnection requirements
- Experience managing EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and cross-functional project stakeholders
- Knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards
- Valid driver's license
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or another engineering discipline preferred
- Experience reviewing physical, protection and control, and relay design packages for high-voltage facilities preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure preferred
- Experience managing EPC contracts and contractor performance preferred
- Ability to influence technical decisions, manage risk, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups preferred
