About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead cross-functional publication teams to develop strategic publication plans and execution tactics
- Partner with Medical to integrate publication plans into the medical strategic framework
- Ensure global, regional, and country alignment and input with the Regional Publications team
- Maintain scientific knowledge of assigned assets, publication content, and publication rationale
- Align above-asset publication strategy with individual asset publication plans
- Communicate publication plans to varied audiences, including senior management
- Oversee publication plan execution within best-practice and governance frameworks
- Manage external agencies supporting publication deliverables
- Maintain scientific integrity and ethics and ensure adherence to company policy and values
- Manage financial, contractual, and vendor-related aspects of assigned projects
- Build relationships with internal stakeholders, product teams, LOCs, and external partners
- Serve as publications expert and point of contact for consultants, advisors, external experts, journals, and professional societies
- Act as spokesperson for publications within assigned disease areas or asset groups
- Manage complex stakeholder networks and tailor communications to functional and seniority-level needs
- Lead cross-functional initiatives supporting overall team objectives
- Drive adoption of AI, GenAI, automation, and digital solutions in publication planning, development, execution, and reporting
- Evaluate, implement, and scale technologies for content development, knowledge management, operational excellence, and data-driven decisions
- Champion digital transformation with appropriate governance, compliance, and future-ready capabilities
- Recognize emerging compliance risks, contribute to mitigation plans, and establish enterprise best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in science, pharmacy, an allied health field, medical communications, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 8 years’ pharmaceutical industry experience, including publications management, scientific communications, medical affairs, or external scientific engagement
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing and executing strategic publication plans in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment
- Experience leading cross-functional or matrix publication teams
- Experience developing publication plans aligned with medical strategy, regional or country needs, compliance requirements, and scientific communication priorities
- Experience managing multiple concurrent publication projects or workstreams, including prioritization, timelines, and risk escalation
- Experience communicating publication strategy, progress, risks, decisions, and metrics to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Experience applying publication ethics, Good Publication Practice, ICMJE guidance, company policy, and scientific engagement requirements
- Experience identifying publication-related compliance, operational, or reputational risks and contributing to mitigation plans or process improvements
- Experience managing external agency partners, budgets, purchase orders, or related financial processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- PhD, medical degree, or equivalent experience in a relevant field (preferred)
- Knowledge of GSK processes, Scientific Engagement principles, and operating practices (preferred)
- Familiarity with Datavision or iEnvision publication software (preferred)
- Experience applying AI, GenAI, automation, or digital technologies to improve productivity, content development, knowledge management, or decision making (preferred)
- Experience translating emerging technologies into compliant, scalable solutions (preferred)
