About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide senior clinical leadership and strategy for the Vaccines and Infectious Diseases portfolio, across early and late development stages.
- Act as the single point of clinical and medical leadership for the portfolio, guiding development and commercial teams with clear insight.
- Ensure clinical input to regulatory documents and interactions is accurate, scientifically robust, and delivered on time.
- Provide globally integrated clinical and medical governance of studies, ensuring scientific integrity and appropriate benefit–risk for participants.
- Manage and allocate clinical staff and resources across programs, aligning resourcing with portfolio priorities and agreed plans.
- Lead project oversight to secure timely, efficient, and compliant delivery of clinical activities and enhance end-to-end pipeline productivity.
- Drive innovation in clinical development, including simplified approaches, outsourced study models, and question-based trial designs where appropriate.
- Embed Clinical Trial Representativeness principles across the program to support more inclusive and relevant evidence generation.
- Strengthen cross-functional collaboration, integrating patient, physician, and payer perspectives and working with medical and epidemiology leaders on evidence plans.
- Lead talent management for clinical sciences, including recruitment, development, succession planning, and promotion of equity and inclusion.
- Sponsor the Global Clinical Community, supporting peer review and forums that share learning and best practice.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the scope of Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Clinical Sciences work.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Medical Doctor or PhD, with deep experience in vaccines or drug development and strong therapy area expertise.
- At least 15 years’ experience in vaccines development, covering multiple stages of clinical research and development.
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience leading medical experts in academia or industry, with responsibility for teams and complex programs.
- Proven experience designing, conducting, interpreting, and reporting high-quality clinical studies, in line with Good Clinical Practice and internal controls.
- Experience providing clinical judgment and governance for late-stage programs and life cycle management activities.
