About the role
- Apply state-of-the-art statistical and computational approaches to large-scale genetic, genomic (including proteomics) and clinical phenotypic datasets to generate at-scale insights and address targeted translational scientific questions.
- Demonstrate analytical prowess to develop and deliver high quality work to impact the GSK drug development pipeline.
- Effectively communicate analysis findings, with expert interpretation, to GSK Genetics & Genomics colleagues and project teams.
- Work with focus and agility to deliver personal and team deliverables against objectives, demonstrating strong statistical, analytic and critical thinking skills with understanding of the translational context of your work.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and methodologies in translational and statistical genetics with evaluation of their potential and implementation in the organization as indicated.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous professional learning within the team.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, biomedical statistics, computational sciences, bioinformatics or machine learning) with either a history or demonstrably working towards impactful scientific publications and/or presentations.
- Experienced in genetics and conducting analyses that integrate genetics, genomics (particularly proteomics) and/or clinical phenotypic data to address translational questions in drug discovery and development.
- Excellent programming skills in R or python, and knowledge of techniques in reproducible research, literate programming, FAIR data principles, or software development.
- Ability to assess and implement new methodologies and approaches to integrate genetics and genomics to answer translational questions in drug discovery and development.
- Demonstrated ability to understand key scientific questions of relevance to drug discovery and development and identify and develop innovative analytical solutions to answer them.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating complex scientific concepts to scientific colleagues.
