About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Technical responsibility for our PHP-based backend systems and their continuous development
Hands-on development in backend, APIs and business logic
Refactoring and structuring an existing PHP codebase
Designing, developing and optimizing API and service architectures
Ensuring performance, stability and maintainability of production systems
Defining and establishing coding standards as well as testing and CI/CD processes
Close collaboration with Product and business units, particularly in the context of tax-specific business logic
Providing technical support to the development team and actively contributing to architectural and implementation decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Several years of experience in PHP development (e.g., Symfony or Laravel)
Experience working with established production codebases
Strong understanding of software architecture (modularization, services, APIs)
Proficient with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Experience designing and operating REST APIs
Familiarity with Docker and modern CI/CD processes
High standards for clean, maintainable and performant code
Consistent hands-on mentality with active development work day-to-day
Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS) in an operations or infrastructure context
