About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify process breakdowns across annuity operations and perform root-cause analysis on variances, exceptions, and NIGO drivers
  • Recommend operational corrective actions with quantified outcomes
  • Map end-to-end operational processes and quantify bottlenecks and waste
  • Build business cases for improvement initiatives tied to time, cost, quality, and operational performance
  • Partner with operations leads to design, pilot, and roll out process changes
  • Measure pre/post impact and codify updated operational procedures
  • Partner with Data, IT, and Technology to improve operational data quality and reduce manual reporting
  • Translate operational strategic questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations
  • Support driver-based volume forecasting and capacity planning
  • Maintain the department's operational FMEA and execute against known peak events
  • Support operations-side readiness for product, regulatory, legal, tax, and technology changes
  • Translate requirements into updated processes and procedures and partner with Operations Trainers on training needs
  • Produce operational performance reporting on SLA attainment, First Request Resolution, quality accuracy, productivity, workload multiplier, and forecast versus actual
  • Serve as operations-side liaison for Compliance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Audit, and Risk partners
  • Provide operational context, evidence of execution, and coordinated operations-team responses

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3–5 years’ experience in annuity contracts, death claims processing, and regulatory compliance required
  • Prior experience with claim event lifecycle, including death claim annuitization, surrenders, partial withdrawals, RMDs, and 1035 exchanges preferred
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to process improvement initiatives with quantified outcomes
  • Proven track record in root-cause analysis, ideally with Lean Six Sigma concepts
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Insurance preferred, or equivalent work experience in annuity claims processing
  • Strong business acumen in a highly regulatory environment
  • Ability to influence and drive change across functional lines of business
