Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform fundamental tasks within a GMP environment
  • Clean and maintain the workplace
  • Clean, assemble, disassemble, and sterilize operating equipment according to applicable procedures
  • Assist with process control manipulations
  • Maintain production records and logs
  • Perform housekeeping in compliance with pharmaceutical-operation standards
  • Prepare cleaning and sanitization reagents
  • Operate production equipment including centrifuges, ultrafiltration units, columns, autoclaves, and pasteurizers
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently
  • Perform bulk processing and filtration using parameters such as pH, weights, and suspension
  • Prepare buffer solutions and store process intermediates
  • Isolate target proteins from intermediates, process them to sterile bulk, and deliver them for filling
  • Assemble, disassemble, and operate spectrophotometers
  • Perform pH and buffer additions
  • Prepare samples and perform processing calculations
  • Weigh powders, chemicals, and reagents; calculate, prepare, and add reagents
  • Perform routine bulk-preparation operations
  • Perform pre- and post-filtration integrity tests
  • Identify mechanical and safety hazards and report them to appropriate personnel

  • Ability to work in a team environment and exercise good judgment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand/walk continuously during the shift
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • For Level II: typically requires a minimum of 12 months as a Technician in the respective department before consideration for advancement
  • For Level II: minimum of a meets expectations overall rating on the most recent performance review
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to biological fluids, chemicals, electrical manufacturing equipment, hand tools, moving machinery, high noise, extreme cold, and confined spaces
  • Ability to operate forklifts, tractors, and power equipment
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Color perception/discrimination and depth perception
  • Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and the other eye to 20/100
  • Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written information
  • Ability to follow written or oral instructions/procedures
