About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform physical examinations and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
Raise donor awareness of potential hazards
Provide donor education regarding general health and counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
Assist in employee training
Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Requirements

What you’ll need

Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
Current CPR certification required
Ability to stand and sit for 2 to 4 hours per day each
Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, precise, coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels occasionally
Ability to lift 15 pounds lightly, with a maximum lift of 50 pounds
Hearing acuity essential
Correctable near and far vision requirements, including 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye
Ability to communicate and understand spoken information
Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
Ability to communicate sensitive information to diverse groups
Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
Personal protective equipment required, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
