About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform physical examinations and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Provide donor awareness regarding potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Evaluate illness and medication history to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Ability to stand and sit for 2 to 4 hours per day each
  • Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, precise finger, hand, and wrist movements
  • Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on heels occasionally
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs. lightly and up to 50 lbs. maximum
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Correctable near and far vision requirements, including 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other
  • Ability to communicate and understand spoken information
  • Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
  • Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Ability to work with biological fluids and potential infectious organisms
  • Ability to work with electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Ability to work in temperatures below 32°F in plasma freezers
  • Must use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
