About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the lab to ensure optimal performance and compliance
  • Provides overall technical leadership, expertise, and support to the organization
  • Develops, oversees, and maintains a validated production environment
  • Leads project teams on business and technical projects
  • Interviews and hires new employees, maintains adequate staffing
  • Trains new employees, performs competency assessments, and monitors performance
  • Evaluates and counsels personnel, manages schedules to meet laboratory workload demands
  • Writes equipment, assay, and processes validation protocols
  • Ensures strict adherence to SOPs, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Resolves deviations and performs investigations, root-cause analysis

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • One of the following required: MD with certification in blood banking/transfusion medicine, SBB(ASCP), CHS(ABHI) or advanced degree (PhD preferred) in related science (biology, chemistry, genomics)
  • Eight years of experience in a molecular testing laboratory; including a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Expert knowledge of molecular methodologies
  • Effective presentation and classroom management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of staff and management.
