About the role
- Manage various aspects of the monthly close process including reconciliations, preparation of supporting schedules, financial analysis, quality review, and financial reporting.
- Apply strong knowledge of accrual basis accounting to enter and review transactions, resolve variances, and ensure accurate general ledger management.
- Utilize, train, and implement cloud-based accounting tools such as Bill.com, Expensify, and other platforms commonly used by government contractors.
- Coordinate different phases of engagements with supervisors or managers, review workpapers for accuracy and completeness, and maintain clear client communication.
- Provide oversight and coaching to staff accountants; offer guidance, feedback, and support professional development.
- Assist clients with understanding financial statements, compliance with government contracting requirements, indirect rate calculations, and cost accounting standards.
- Ensure deliverables are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and firm protocols.
- Maintain strong client relationships and prioritize responsive, high-quality service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public accounting or private industry, with progressive responsibility. Experience with government contractors strongly preferred. Prior CPA firm experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Unanet required or strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud-based tools such as Bill.com, Expensify, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance is a plus but not required.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across diverse client accounts.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
