About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and maintain product safety and regulatory compliance programs to ensure product compliance with regulations and packaging safety standards
  • Maintain and implement UN governance programs aligned with global regulatory compliance goals
  • Assist with product compliance issues and product technical support issues
  • Determine, monitor, and maintain plant personnel competency for UN/ADR/DOT certification
  • Develop and maintain training programs and materials
  • Lead or assist training for individuals participating in company test/compliance programs
  • Manage changes to the EMEA/APAC regional training system for UN-related training roles
  • Maintain existing UN modules and act as system owner for troubleshooting, training, and technical issues
  • Implement UN modules in additional EMEA/APAC regions according to rollout strategy and business needs
  • Function as project manager for implementations and interface with IT as needed
  • Serve as UN expert for EMEA/APAC on regional and national transportation regulations
  • Audit regulatory compliance with applicable EMEA/APAC transport regulations at production locations
  • Conduct plant regulatory audits and follow up findings through closure
  • Maintain UN compliance instructions, UN/ADR/DOT audit templates, and training materials
  • Participate in investigations and root cause analysis of test failures
  • Support regulatory investigations and corrective actions
  • Provide product technical guidance on materials selection, design, manufacturing, testing, and end-user problem solving
  • Monitor UN/ADR and other regional transport regulations and assess their impact on Greif
  • Report regulatory changes to the steering committee and develop risk-mitigation action plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry preferred
  • Equivalent work experience is required as an alternative to the preferred degree
  • 5–7 years of related experience required
  • 10+ years of related experience preferred
  • Experience with packaging manufacturing regulations for dangerous-goods transportation, including ADR, CFR 49, or UN Orange Book Recommendations
  • Experience troubleshooting packaging product performance issues related to manufacturing, raw materials, or supplied components
  • Sound knowledge of packaging requirements for HMR
  • General auditing skills in quality management systems
  • Strong one-on-one communication skills and ability to conduct instructor-led training
  • Ability to use remote activity management tools such as web conferencing or instant meetings
  • Industrial shipping container manufacturing experience and applicable regulations are a plus
  • Considerable travel is required
  • Ability to communicate, manage, lead, and direct individuals remotely
