Surveyor

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform inspections and certifications of Fleet in Service vessels to ensure compliance with international standards, DNV Classification Rules, and statutory requirements
- Conduct surveys on ocean-going ships visiting ports in Mexico, as well as vessels at sea, to verify adherence to relevant regulations
- Inspect and certify Mobile Offshore Units (MOUs) in operation, ensuring compliance with Certificate of Fitness Requirements, DNV Classification Rules, statutory requirements, and international standards
- Survey and report on the structure and equipment of MOUs and other offshore structures during new-building, upgrades, in-service phases, repairs, and modifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Review and respond to technical queries and design submittals regarding compliance
- Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are performed in accordance with the organization’s Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines, and quality requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation at all times
- Supervise the work of others, ensuring it is carried out efficiently and economically when applicable
- Communicate with line management regarding any information critical to the organization's reputation or integrity
- Exhibit a customer-oriented focus by promoting DNV services both onboard and on-site
- Serve as a technical resource for customer questions and provide guidance on compliance and operational standards
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university (Technical degree will be considered; University degree preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maritime or offshore industry
- Qualifications towards a class and statutory surveyor for ships and offshore units in service, new constructions, and certification of materials and components
- Audit experience (ISM, ISPS, MLC) preferred
- Chief engineer’s license or equivalent would be an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing pilot ladders, tanks, flying, flying in a helicopter, crew boat launches, and conducting voyage surveys
- Must be able to travel (~20-30% of the year)
- Pre-employment background screening will be conducted
